We are committed to ensuring that our platform is accessible to everyone, and our goal is to help instructors create an inclusive, welcoming environment for learning. 

Perusall is reviewed annually by an independent auditor for compliance with WCAG 2.2 A and AA standards. The  Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (version 2.4, last updated June 28, 2024) provides detailed information on Perusall's support for accessibility standards.

Create a welcoming space for students

Personalize your profile
Students and instructors customize their online identities by adding a photo, pronouns, and bio to their profile.
Post anonymously (or not)
At the instructors’ discretion, students can choose (or be required to) post anonymously, building confidence in sharing ideas and opinions.
Flag inappropriate comments
‍Let students flag inappropriate comments in their conversations to ensure an inclusive environment. Flagged comments are removed from the conversation thread until reviewed by the instructor. 
Hover over a profile avatar to see their name, bio, and pronouns. Edit this information in your profile settings.
Students can post their comments anonymously to build confidence on their ideas and opinions. Students can click on the detective icon to make their comment anonymous.
Flag a comment that has been posted as inappropriate. Instructors can remove or unflag comments on their end.

Make your materials accessible without requiring special software

Highlighted text can be read aloud in different languages and speeds. Students can pause, skip, and rewind to listen to text as needed.
Students and instructors can dictate their comments by voice. No special software is needed.
To view text or images larger or smaller, users can resize content by clicking the gear icons in the reader screen.

Resize the content or interface
A resizable and responsive user interface adapts to students with different types of devices or vision capabilities.
Enable dark mode
Use a darker user interface that is more readable in low light conditions.
Read with the Open Dyslexic Font
Students with dyslexia can replace the default font in most publisher-provided textbooks with the Open Dyslexic Font designed for easier readability.
Light to dark mode for easier reading when available in the Perusall platform. Accessibility features can be adjusted in individual profiles.
